Stamping Die Design Software for AutoCAD
What DIE Professional Is Not
There are a few 3D parametric stamping die design software products available in today’s market. These products are typically add-ins for popular parametric modeling systems such as SOLIDWORKS. This is not what DIE Professional is.
What DIE Professional Is
Many tool & die shops, metal stamping operations, and independent die designers do not want or need 3D parametric die design with its added complexity and expense. These organizations are ideal candidates for DIE Professional.
DIE Professional is a comprehensive family of AutoCAD add-in modules designed to assist the stamping die design professional with the creation of accurate production die and detail drawings. The design process of DIE Professional is primarily 2D, with automatic generation of 3D components included to aid in design validation. DIE Professional consists of the following AutoCAD add-in modules:
SS-Die Design
– A comprehensive collection of stamping die component libraries and design commands to quickly and accurately develop die and punch plan drawings. From these die and punch plan drawings, annotated detail and section drawings can automatically be created. The Bill of Materials (BOM) is also automatically generated. At any stage of the design process, the die designer can automatically generate a 3D solid model of any individual die component or of the entire stamping die.
SS-Strip Design
– For progressive die designers, SS-Strip Design automates the creation of the progressive strip layout. Parts can be automatically nested within the strip to maximize material utilization. The application of blanking, piercing, and forming operations at specific progressions automatically propagates those operations through the remaining strip progressions. The progressions that operations are applied to can also quickly be changed and the strip layout is instantly updated. A fully annotated progressive strip drawing is created automatically.
SS-Unfold
– An AutoCAD wireframe unfolding software, SS-Unfold includes both 2D and 3D unfolding capability. It provides automatic flat part creation of 3D wireframe parts and unfolds 2D section views to aid in flat part creation from standard orthographic drawings. Section views can also be progressively unfolded to assist with the development of progressive stamping die and roll form tooling. The 3D unfolding features are also incorporated into SS-Strip Design to apply progressive folding through the strip layout.
SS-Design
– The base of all DIE Professional modules, SS-Design is a comprehensive set of design and drafting commands that enhance and simplify standard AutoCAD procedures. The SS-Design menus remain loaded at all times to provide the die designer with instant access to this wide array of capability. Commands include creation of standard shapes, notches, tabs, flanges, etc., and parametric editing of these features whether or not they were created with SS-Design commands. An automatic dimensioning system fully dimensions parts in seconds complete with hole and position charts.
SS-Draw Form
– An advanced draw form development system that assists the designer with the creation of complex cylindrical and rectangular shells or the evaluation of existing shells. The intuitive dialog interface enables the designer to quickly define the primitive components of the basic shell and apply dimensional data. SS-Draw Form develops the blank area and diameter along with various drawings and solid models of the newly created shell. SS-Draw Form uses a reduction database to assist the designer with calculating the maximum percentage of reduction for cylindrical shells. SS-Draw Form will parametrically layout all preliminary draws and a finish draw while taking into account needed angles of corner radii of the draw forms. The percent reduction, material and thickness database can be easily modified to perform calculations based upon user knowledge and experience.
SS-Wire EDM
– A 2-axis and 4-axis wire EDM programming software that generates NC programs directly from the AutoCAD drawing. This unique CAD/CAM environment provides user configurable cutting parameters and automatic tool-path creation making SS-Wire EDM one of the easiest CNC programming solutions available.
